New Delhi: Just a day after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi met Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar in the name of ‘opposition unity’, NCP announced that it may contest the Karnataka Assembly election.
As per information, NCP is set to contest 40-50 seats in the upcoming election where BJP, Congress and JD(S) are locked in a triangular contest. The poll is scheduled on May 10.
The NCP’s decision to contest the Karnataka Assembly election came after the party lost its National Party status.

” We have to take steps to get national party status,” said NCP leader Prafull Patel.
Sharad Pawar’s party may collaborate with the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti in the adjoining boundary region of Maharashtra-Karnataka. The election commission has allotted the ‘Alarm Clock’ symbol to NCP for the Karnataka elections.
These steps of the NCP may hit hard the effort to bring all opposition parties to a stage to fight BJP in the 2024 general election.
