Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a video circulating on social media shows a woman being dragged, struck, and brutally kicked by a man in public. This incident took place in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The woman was assaulted over allegations that she had stolen sarees worth Rs 90,000 from the shop. The man, who is the shopkeeper, along with his assistant, has been arrested by Bengaluru police.

According to police, a woman named Humpamma visited a shop on Bengaluru’s Avenue Road and stole a bundle of sarees, escaping after the theft. The entire act was captured on the shop’s CCTV. Later, she returned to steal more sarees, but the shopkeeper recognized her and caught her in the act.

The shopkeeper, angry at the woman, dragged her onto the road and hit and kicked her many times before taking her to the police. People nearby, including the shopkeeper, recorded the whole incident on their phones. The police registered two cases: one against the woman for theft and another against the shopkeeper and his assistant for assault.

It’s worth noting that numerous cases of shoplifting have been reported in the past. In these cases, people were caught stealing clothing, sometimes red-handed by the shopkeeper, and sometimes the theft was captured on the shop’s cameras. In such cases, people were even caught carrying stolen goods hidden inside their underwear, resulting in embarrassment when caught by the police.
