Bengaluru: A horrifying incident has come to light from Bengaluru, where a 23-year-old woman was sexually harassed and robbed of cash. The incident which occurred on Friday has been reported from a women’s PG facility in the Gangotri Circle area of the city. An unidentified masked man broke into her room at around 3 am, assaulted her and stole cash, stated the police.
The woman was asleep when the man broke into her room. He had locked all the other rooms from the outside before entering one of them as visible in the CCTV footage. According to the police, the man allegedly touched her inappropriately while she was sleeping. When she resisted, he threatened her with a knife. He then scratched her legs with his nails and reportedly assaulted her.
After assaulting her, the man stole Rs 2,500 cash from her cupboard and fled. The woman filed a complaint at the Suddaguntepalya police station. Police said a case has been registered for trespassing, sexual harassment, assault, and theft. An investigation is underway to identify the accused.
Another Incident
In another shocking incident, a class 9 student of a government residential school gave birth to a baby in the school toilet in Shahapur taluk of Karnataka’s Yadgir district, the Superintendent of Police said. According to the FIR, the girl was full-term pregnant and had been sexually assaulted by an unknown person about nine months ago. The incident occurred on Wednesday (August 27) at approximately 2 pm.
The matter came to light after her classmates noticed that the girl was in labour and informed the school administration.
During the investigation, the police identified the accused as a 28-year-old man and registered a POCSO case based on a complaint filed by the District Child Protection Officer. A case has also been registered against four others, including the hostel warden, the school principal, the staff nurse and the victim’s brother, for failing to inform the authorities about the girl’s pregnancy, police said. The girl had been attending school continuously since the beginning of the academic year.
