Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a software engineer attempted suicide near the Governor’s residence in Bengaluru. The techie alleged that he took the extreme step as he was unable to bear the torture of his wife. He has been identified as Junaid Ahmad, a resident of Chikkaballapur district in Karnataka. The incident took place on Sunday. Police stated that he tried to kill himself by pouring petrol and attempted to set himself ablaze. Junaid claimed that he was being tortured by his wife.
What Did Police Say?
According to the police, Junaid alleged that his wife had lodged a false dowry case and many more cases against him. He further added that he had gone to register a complaint with the Chikkaballapur police station, but they refused to file his complaint.

Frustrated by all this, he decided to end his life in front of the Raj Bhavan. However, his attempt was foiled as he was stopped and detained by the police present at the spot.
According to reports, police let him off after listening to his story and counselling.
In another incident that unfolded on Sunday, a 20-year-old student reportedly died by Suicide in Bengaluru. The police said that the girl jumped off the fourth floor of her house, located at the Victory Harmony apartment in the city’s Hebbal area. She took her life allegedly due to the stress of examinations around 12.45 pm on April 13.
Girl Was Struggling With Mental Pressure
The girl, identified as Soumya, a dental student, was in her second year at KLE Dental College. According to reports, she has been struggling with depression due to exams. A case has been registered, and police are currently investigating the incident. Meanwhile, this is not the first instance where a student has attempted suicide due to studies.
