Bengaluru: While the outcry over the recent tragic death of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash is still making rounds on the internet, a 33-year-old cop named Thippanna Alugurhas reportedly died by suicide late Friday night for a similar reason. According to reports, the victim identified as a police head constable with Hulimavu PS (Law and Order) died by jumping in front of a moving train in Byappanahalli, Bengaluru.

Just Like Atul Subhash left behind a 24-page suicide note before dying, accusing his wife and her relatives of harassment, the deceased cop has blamed his wife and father-in-law for his death in a one-page suicide note written in Kannada. Thippanna, a native of Sindhagi’s Handiganuru village lived in a rented house in Bengaluru.

According to reports, the police constable engaged in a heated argument with his wife on Friday. The death note mentioned that his wife’s father even abused him over the phone following the scuffle. Initial probe revealed that Thippanna jumped before a train running between Heelalige and Carmelaram railway gate. Police stated that the incident came to light after a passerby alerted railway police about the incident.

In his death note, he wrote: “I am committing suicide due to torture and harassment by my wife and her father. On December 12, he called me at 7.26 pm, spoke for 14 minutes, and threatened me. He also told me to die, or else they will finish me off so that his daughter would live in peace.”

Thippanna also addressed his batchmate in Karnataka State Reserve Police, requesting him to collect his ‘Cheeta’ bike (Govt property) parked near a lake close to Huskur railway track.

In light of this, Thippanna’s mother on Saturday lodged a police complaint in Byappanahalli accusing her daughter-in-law and her father of abetting her son’s death by harassment.

TOI quoted a senior police officer as saying, “We will issue notices to the accused persons, directing them to appear before us for a statement. This will be our first step.”
