Bengaluru: Flight services have been disrupted at Bengaluru Airport due to bad weather and heavy rains. 14 flights had to be diverted and six flights were delayed. After which, the passengers had to suffer.

An airport official said flight services were affected due to strong winds and heavy rain. Flight service was suspended from 4:05 pm to 4:51 pm. After this, the system has been restored.

Of the 14 flights that were diverted, 12 were diverted to Chennai, one to Coimbatore and one to Hyderabad. There were seven flights of Indigo, three of Vistara, two of Akasa Airlines and one each of Go Air and Air India.

The official said that the flight service has now resumed. The flights to Chennai are being refuelled and will soon return to Bengaluru.

According to the Meteorological Department, KIA Devanahalli received 45.2 mm of rain on Tuesday evening. Traffic came to a standstill in Devanahalli due to heavy rains and normal life was thrown out of gear.

Earlier, on December 13, the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) had issued a circular directing all government, government-aided, and recognised private schools under DOE, NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board to conduct classes in a hybrid mode for students up to Class IX and XI.
