Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express: In a major move aimed at enhancing the travel experience of commuters, the Ministry of Railways has approved the operation of a Vande Bharat Express between KSR Bengaluru and Ernakulam via Coimbatore. This train service is set to benefit commuters from the two major southern states, Karnataka and Kerala by offering improved rail connectivity, reduced travel time and a comfortable journey.
Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express: Timings announced
The new train service will run six days a week, except on Wednesdays. According to the Railway Board’s communication on Friday, October 31, 2021, Train No. 26651 KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam Junction Vande Bharat Express will depart Bengaluru at 5:10 am and reach Ernakulam at 1:50 pm, while the return service, Train No. 26652, will leave Ernakulam at 2:20 pm and arrive in Bengaluru at 11:00 pm. There will be scheduled halts at Krishnarajapuram, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, and Thrissur along the route, PTI reported.
The introduction of this semi-high-speed service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance connectivity between Karnataka and Kerala. According to reports, both the Southern Railway and South Western Railway zones have been directed by the Ministry to commence operations “at the earliest.”
Launch by mid-November
Earlier, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw had confirmed the commencement of Vande Bharat Express between Ernakulam and Bengaluru. In a post on X, he had affirmed the launch of the train service by mid-November.
