Bengaluru: Four Arrested For Assaulting College Student With Machetes Over Dispute

Four college students have been arrested for attacking their juniors who refused to accept their hazing.

A personal dispute between college students near Lalbagh Main Road, Bengaluru turned violent. Police immediately took action and arrested four people following the incident. The Wilson Garden police detained the four on Thursday for allegedly attempting to attack a student.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Fardeen (24), Mohammed Afan (26), Mohammed Ryan (21) and Sameer M (24). They had earlier had a dispute with the victim Babur Ryan’s friend Afrid. The incident took place between 2 pm and 5 pm at Bada Makan Ground. Babur said he was sitting on his scooter when he saw a group of 10 people, including these four, chasing Afrid. Afrid managed to escape, but the attackers attacked Babur because he was Afrid’s friend. In the attack, Babur suffered an injury to his hand and the scooter was damaged.

Babur later learnt that the dispute was over ragging and talking to a girl. He also said that the accused went to his house and tried to intimidate his parents.

Police have registered a case against the four under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder, rioting and criminal intimidation. The case is under investigation.
