With online shopping comes the risk of online scams and frauds. One has to be very careful while placing their orders and receiving them.
In one such incident, a woman from Bengaluru averted a big online scam by using her intelligence. A Reddit user shared this experience and asked the Flipkart scammer to beware.
The user said that his sister had ordered an iPhone 15 through e-commerce website, Flipkart during its Big Billion Day Sale 2024. She had opted for open box delivery feature. It is a feature which allows the buyers to open the sealed delivery box and check the product before accepting the delivery. But the delivery boy refused to let her open the box and denied the open box delivery option.
He said that they have to accept the box as it is. When the user refused, the delivery boy called some people and said that such facility doesn’t exist.
When the user who had recorded all the things, told the delivery boy about the recording, he got scared. The user refused to accept the package, then within two minutes, another delivery boy showed up with small package and said that he would do an open box delivery.
The user wrote, “We got the product because I recorded everything otherwise I am sure he would have gave me some random package.”
What Did Netizens Say?
As soon as the post surfaced online, netizens praised the user for his intelligence of recording the whole incident. One user wrote, “Nice bro. Glad you knew something was off and recorded everything. It’s very hard to trust Flipkart now. Their association with insane amount of scammers in all delivery pipeline is really scary.”
Another user said, “Bro you made a pro move and saved from getting a brick.” Several users also expressed their experiences of online scam and frauds. “I had ordered a similar thing and received a big box yesterday. Imagine curtain rods sort of a thing big. Was stumped to see such a big package for an item as big as a phone. There was no mention of open box delivery anywhere so couldn’t argue with the delivery boy,” wrote another user.
