Mahalakshmi Murder Case: The prime suspect in the shocking Mahalakshmi murder case was said to have confessed his crime to his mother only hours before he was allegedly found dead by hanging near his residence in Dhusuri, Bhadrak district, Odisha, on Wednesday.
The probe said Mukti Ranjan Ray, who might be around 30 years old, had come back to his village on Tuesday evening after two years.
He Confessed His Crime Front Of His Mother
He told his mother that he had killed the 29-year-old woman and broke down in tears. Ray stayed at home overnight and left early Wednesday morning on his father’s scooter. He went to a secluded area and reportedly hanged himself from a tree with a rope.
Chilling details of the murder emerged after police discovered a notebook belonging to Ray in which, apparently he confessed to his crime and explained the reasons behind it.
Ray said he liked Mahalakshmi, but she was taking undue advantage of him and using him for money. He also said that she wanted to kill him, which is why he murdered her. His mother said that he was telling the truth and that Mahalakshmi was exploiting him. She added that she had taken his gold chain and his ring.
Details Were Written In English And Odia
The police sources alleged that Ray had written gruesome details about the murder in both Odia and English. The writing in English was ambiguous and thus most information gathered by the police was based on what he wrote in Odia.
The accused killed Mahalakshmi on September 3 and wrote the note on the same day. He intended to take his own life right after the crime but didn’t find the chance. Ray even confessed to his cousin, with whom he stayed for 10-12 days in Berhampur after escaping from Bengaluru.
