7 suffocate while cleaning oil tank in Andhra; Probe on

New Delhi: A total number of 7 workers died during cleaning an oil tank in a factory in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh, the news agency PTI quoted a police officials on Thursday.

The official added that the workers inhaled gas inside the oil tank after which, they were admitted to hospital. The edible oil manufacturing company is in Ragampeta village where the incident took place.

As per the media reports, the deceased have been identified as Vechangi Krishna, vechangi Narasimham, Vechangi Sagar, Korathadu Banji Babu, Karri Rama Rao, Prasad and Kattamuri Jagadeesh.

After the incident, families of the deceased are in shock as they accused the company of not ensuring the precautionary measrues before sending the workers into the tank.

Following the incident, a team of police reached the incident spot where the district collector accompanied them. Collector Kritika Shukla assured the bereaved family that she would recommend government for compensation.
