Guwahati: As many as seven construction labourers from Assam out of 19 have been traced and rescued after they went missing on July 13 from Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers are engaged in search and rescue operations.
The lost workers were found in weak condition and now they are receiving medical assistance.
As per a report of The Indian Express, the 19 workers, mostly Muslims, were working for a project of constructing a road from Damin circle in Kurung Kumey to the China border. The BRO is executing the has project.
Further in the report, it was said that the workers were denied the permission to go home for celebrating EID, therefore, they fled their camps at Huri in the district on July 5. After which, they entered a dense forest and lost their way.
On Thursday, a team from the State Disaster Response Force, assisted by police and locals, began searching for the missing people. An IAF helicopter is expected to conduct an aerial search on Saturday.
