New Delhi: On Tuesday, AAP MLA & Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Education, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Atishi attended the 10th White Page Leadership Conclave held at the Le Meridien hotel. Speaking on the occasion she said, “Today, lakhs of Delhi government school students can dream of becoming entrepreneurs. The day is not far when these children will lay down the foundation of the world’s top companies with their innovative business ideas”

MLA Atishi who was the guest of honor at this event mentioned that we often read in newspapers how lakhs of graduates and Ph.D. holders have applied for a handful of job vacancies which they are overqualified for. And if we look at the Department of Personnel and Training figures, in 2014-2022, about 22 crore job applications were received for central government jobs, out of which only 7.22 lakh people were selected. She further added that these figures are really disturbing and show how our education system teaches our children only to find jobs after completing their studies.

She also said that unemployment is the most pressing problem in India today and one of the reasons behind this is that our children lack the skills required to be hired in the market. Our government wants to help students learn the skills of the 21st century. We aim to help children develop an entrepreneurial mindset and prepare them for future challenges. With this goal, we started the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and the Business Blasters program in Delhi government schools so that our students become future job creators, not job seekers.

When every child will learn business skills and set up their own ventures and create opportunities for others, only then the problem of unemployment will be solved for India -MLA Atishi

Talking about the Business Blasters Programme, she highlighted that the program helped students explore their entrepreneurial skills. Under this program, the Kejriwal government gave a seed money of 2000 rupees to about 3 lakh students studying in class 11 & 12 in Delhi government schools to help them develop startup ideas. Over 51,000 business ideas were generated from this seed money of Rs 60 crore given to Delhi Government School students last year, Top 126 business ideas were selected for the Business Blasters Expo & Summit. Selected teams had the opportunity to meet industrialists & well-known entrepreneurs from across the country. A cumulative Investment pledge worth more than Rs.15 crores was also made.

During the event, Atishi also felicitated leaders & budding entrepreneurs for their outstanding contribution in the field of business and entrepreneurship. Organised by White Page International in association with UK Asian Business Council, the event saw the presence of over 200 business leaders and CEOs from 12 Asian countries.
