Tamil Nadu: Four people were killed and around 70 injured when two private buses collided at Melpattampakkam in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. The injured have been taken to the government hospital in Cuddalore. At the same time, according to a police officer, five people died in a head-on collision between two private buses on Monday.

The accident took place at Pattambakkam, near Nellikuppam. The front end of both vehicles was completely damaged in the accident. Members of the public and police rushed to the scene and helped the injured reach the hospital.

The reason behind the accident is being told that the front tyre of a bus burst, due to which the driver lost control of the bus and collided head-on with another bus coming from the opposite direction.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those undergoing treatment.
