New Delhi: The Police have arrested the 27-year-old master-mind who was caught with over 2,200 live cartridges in Delhi.
As per a report of the news agency PTI, the main accused Shubham Singh is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Shubham was allegedly smuggling weapons and ammunition to the sand mafia in Bihar.
Meanwhile, as many as six members of the gang — Ajmal, Rashid, Saddam, Parikshit Negi, Nasir, and another person — were already arrested earlier this month. Following their arrest, the police found live cartridges near Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal in the national capital.
The police located Shubham in the Sultanpur area of Uttar Pradesh based on the confession made by the three accused during the investigation.
An official informed that he was apprehended and brought to Delhi.
Singh told the police that he started from dealing with arms and weapons and supply them across India. However, he came into contact with sand mafia operating in Bhojpur of Arrah district in Bihar.
The government allots a limited place for mining sand from river Son. However, the mafias illegally work on the land that is not allotted to them. The mafias usually need arms and weapons to protect them during the confrontation with the police.
