New Delhi: Assam police have arrested 6 minor boys for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year old girl. SHO of Ramakrishna Nagar police station, Nilovjyoti Nath has confirmed this. Six teenage boys were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl in southern Assam’s Karimganj, they said.
This is what happened
The victim’s family has lodged a formal police complaint in this regard on Monday. The complaint read that a 13-year-old girl was gang-raped in Kalinagar area which comes under Ramkrishna Nagar police station area. As soon as the complaint was lodged, the police launched a search operation. All the six accused were arrested soon after.
Minors made video of the crime
A police officer told that one of the accused had also made a video of the incident on his mobile phone. He also shared it with other boys. The police have recovered the phone as the proof of crime.
Accused booked under POCSO
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the trial will be conducted under juvenile proceedings, the official said. The victim and all the accused, who are in the age group of 13 to 15 years, belong to the families of tea garden workers.
