Pakistan PM House to be turned into postgraduate institute

The Pakistan Prime Minister's House will be turned into a campus of a postgraduate institute, said a minister on Thursday while divulging governments plans to utilize official buildings for public use. Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood told the media that the public was fed up of the previous governments' "royal" ways of living, Geo news said. The minister said it was important that government officials live in a way that does not waste public money, which is why Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided that he would not stay in the PM House and governors will not stay in Governor Houses to cut down on costs, he added.

Tanzanian held at Mumbai airport for drug trafficking

The CISF on Thursday caught a Tanzanian national at Mumbai airport for carrying six kg of suspected contraband item Ephedrine, the paramilitary force said. Ibrahim Abdullah Shabani, who was supposed to travel from Mumbai to Muscut by Oman Airways flight around 4.05 p.m., was held around 1.55 p.m. during checking of his luggage at Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Assistant Inspector General Hemendra Singh said.

Chinese Consul-General in Kolkata Ma Zhanwu on September 12 said his country was mooting a bullet train service between Kunming and Kolkata, traversing through Myanmar and Bangladesh. “With joint efforts of India and China, a high-speed rail link could be established between the two cities,” Mr. Ma said at a conference in Kolkata. “It will only take a few hours to reach Kolkata from Kunming if the rail link becomes a reality,” he asserted.

1500000 US citizens face 'death threat'

More than 1.5 million people have been asked to evacuate their homes along the Virginia, North and South Carolina coasts as Category 5 storm Hurricane Florence approaches, an official said. It is expected to make landfall in the area later this week, Efe news reported. Oil shock for India.. International crude prices at $76.02

The basket of crude oil used as a benchmark indicator by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries increased to $76.02, the OPEC Secretariat said here on Wednesday. The OPEC said the price of its basket went up by $0.82 on Tuesday, compared with the closing price at the previous session.
