Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has started phasing out support for Apple devices running iOS version 7 and older, the media reported. This would not affect people who already have WhatsApp installed on their iPhone 4 devices as it should continue to function till 2020, but users would not be able to re-install the app if deleted, the Mirror reported on Thursday.

In a significant development, Ericsson, Telstra and Qualcomm have successfully completed the worlds first 2Gbps capable 4G data call using the live commercial network in Queensland, Australia. "Together with technology partners Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies, Telstra has made the world's first 2Gbps capable 4G data call using our mobile network in the regional centre of Toowoomba in Queensland," Channa Seneviratne, Executive Director, Network and Infrastructure Engineering -- Telstra Operations, said in a statement on Wednesday. This call follows the 2Gbps speed demonstration at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February and the further testing in Sweden in June.
Samsung Electronics on Thursday joined the smartphone camera war, launching the affordable Galaxy A7 that comes with a powerful rear triple camera system. The Galaxy A7 -- to be priced below the Rs 30,000 price segment for India -- will be available in select European and Asian markets from this fall and other markets in the near future, the company said in a statement. The triple camera system has a 24MP AF lens, an 8MP "Ultra Wide" lens (F2.4) and a 5MP "Depth" lens.
Aiming to take on mobile dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble, social networking giant Facebook on Thursday started testing its new dating product in Colombia. "At first glance, 'Facebook Dating' closely resembles its competitor Hinge. Both depart from the swiping model popularised by Tinder in favour of asking users to answer question prompts and start conversations based on something in a person's profile," The Verge reported. "Facebook Dating" includes integration with Groups and Events and draws on other aspects of Facebook to expand the dating pool and encourage users to meet in public.
