Why Infosys Co-Founder Narayan Murthy Opposes 5 Days Work A Week?

Infosys: There has always been a conflict between personal life and work-life balance. This conflict arises with the number of days in the week someone has to work, and the number of hours spent in the office. It is a never-ending chaos. All the corporate employees who work 6 days a week claim that they find it difficult to maintain their personal life. They also desperately demand a 5-day workweek and two days of rest for better physical and mental health.

Amid all this chaos, industry leader Narayana Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys, has commented defending the 6-day work culture. The co-founder gave motivation, saying that working hard is more important than trying to balance work and personal life. According to reports, he also defended the 6-day-a-week working culture, as he believes that the progress of India depends on encouraging people to work hard. While a lot of the younger generation and people from the corporate world disagree with him, he stands firm in his belief.

Narayana Murthy expressed great disappointment over the shift from a 6-day workweek to a 5-day workweek culture in India. He said he never agreed with this change.

In the summit, he also promoted how working hard is essential for nation’sl progress. He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an epitome of tireless dedication to his work. He said, “When PM Modi is working that hard, the only way to show our appreciation for what’s happening around us is by working just as hard.” He further added that without strong work ethics, the country will struggle to keep up with other competitors. “There is no substitute for hard work,” he said, making his perspective on work-life balance clear.
