Vande Bharat in Kashmir: The country’s premium train, Vande Bharat, will run in the Kashmir Valley from next year. A specially designed ‘Vande Bharat’ train is being prepared for the Union Territory.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will leave for Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Referring to the Union Territory, he said a specially designed ‘Vande Bharat’ train is being prepared for the UT. All factors like temperature and snow will be taken into consideration while making this special train.
The Udhampur-Banihal line connecting Jammu with Srinagar will be ready in December this year or early next year. The Union Railway Minister said work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line was progressing well. Work on the bridges over the Chenab and the Anji and on the major tunnels is also underway and progressing well. The train is expected to be commissioned on this route in December this year or January/February next year. A specially designed ‘Vande Bharat’ train is being prepared for this route.

The Railway Minister said there have been demands to connect three areas – Sopore-Kupwara, Avantipora-Shopian and Bijbehara-Pahalgam – with a railway line and the Railways will look into it.
He said we will talk to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Then we will talk to the Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) and the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) about it.
He said that we will have a detailed discussion on doubling the lines in Baramulla. Three more connections are to be added to this line. A lot of work on this line has already been completed. The electrification work is almost completed. There will also be a discussion with LG about extending the line to the border.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav travelled by train from Budgam railway station to Baramulla along with railway officials. During these two days, the Railway Minister will inspect railway projects in Kashmir.
