The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) has witnessed remarkable growth in recent months, but for credit card holders, there was a void in enjoying its benefits. Fortunately, this has changed with the introduction of the RuPay Credit Card, allowing seamless UPI payments through this new offering. Here are five advantages of utilizing UPI with RuPay Credit Card:
Streamlined Transactions
Make bill payments, engage in online shopping, and perform peer-to-merchant transfers, all under the umbrella of UPI. No more toggling between different apps or platforms; it’s all in one place.
Real-Time Transactions
UPI transactions are lightning-fast, processed in real-time. This speed is especially advantageous for crucial transactions that require immediate attention.
Reward Points and Cashback
RuPay UPI credit card transactions still qualify for reward points and cashback offers, as the transactions are routed through the card. This means added benefits for your financial transactions.
Enhanced Financial Management:
Linking UPI with your RuPay credit card centralizes your transactions, simplifying the process of tracking and managing your finances. Keep tabs on your spending patterns, review transaction histories, and set spending limits, all from a single interface.
Simplified Online Shopping:
By linking your UPI with your RuPay credit card, you can pay for online purchases with your credit card through UPI, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter your credit card details on various websites.
For those who own a RuPay credit card, the process of linking it with UPI is a breeze, taking less than 2 minutes.
A Quick Insight into RuPay
RuPay is a domestic payment card introduced by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) with the goal of unifying the nation’s payment system. It functions much like internationally recognized cards such as Visa, MasterCard, and Euro Pay, and is accepted by all major Indian banks, ATMs, POS terminals, and e-commerce platforms.
RuPay cards offer lower transaction costs and faster processing due to domestic processing, providing a boost to the Indian payment ecosystem. Presently, 1,236 banks in India issue RuPay cards. Notably, the capability to link credit cards with UPI was introduced on September 21.
During the Global Fintech Festival last month, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das inaugurated the RuPay Credit Card on the UPI network. Previously, only debit cards and accounts could be linked to the UPI network. At present, this service is available through three banks: Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, and Indian Bank, paving the way for more convenient and versatile payment options for consumers.
