All eyes are on the Union Budget 2025, which is expected to be tabled in February. There has been no official confirmation from the government yet, but seeing the tradition of recent years; it is expected to be presented on first day of the month. Stock exchanges in India will be open for trade on Budget day 2025, despite being a Saturday, National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE) shared in two different notifications. Markets will remain open for equity from 9 am to 3:30 pm and for commodities it’s 5 pm.

Preparation So Far
Earlier on Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on chaired the sixth pre-Budget consultation with experts and representatives from the health and education sectors in connection with the upcoming Union Budget 2025-26, in Delhi. Notably, the Finance Ministry conducts several pre-budget consultation meetings annually with experts, industry leaders, economists, and state officials. The formal exercise to prepare the annual Budget for the next financial year has already begun.
The Finance Minister has so far held a series of meetings with various stakeholders, including with MSMEs, farmers’ associations, and economists. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with a group of eminent economists and thought leaders in preparation for the Union Budget 2025-26 at the NITI Aayog premises last week.
With this, all eyes will be focused on the key announcements and the government’s strategic economic roadmap for the remainder of tenure.
