Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2025 presented the Union Budget for financial year 2025-26. The budget saw various changes and new announcements. Under this budget there is certain key allocations for various sectors.
Healthcare Sector:
According to reports, the healthcare sector has been allotted Rs 98,311 crore. Last time the amount was Rs 89,287 crore. Apart from this Rs 4200 crore has been given for the expansion of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to strengthen health coverage for vulnerable communities.
The government will plan 200 daycare cancer centres for the patients in district hospitals for the improvement of treatment.
Defence Sector:
Under this Budget the defence sector has been given Rs 6.81 trillion. Last time it was Rs 6.21 trillion. Rs 1.72 trillion the 27.66% of this budget is for the equipment and infrastructure investments.

Agriculture Sector:
This sector received an allocation of Rs 1.52 trillion. The loan limit under the Kisan Credit Card has been lifted to Rs 5 lakh. This is done to offer enhanced financial support to the farmers.
Maritime Sector:
A Rs 25 thousand crore Maritime development fund, with 49% government contribution, will give a long time support to the maritime projects. Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Policy has been updated, extending customs duty exemptions on raw materials for an extra 10 years.
Education Sector:
An amount of Rs 500 crore has been give to plant three centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence. The expansion of IITs and medical colleges will bring 6,500 extra seats across 5 IITs and 10,000 new UG medical seats next year. This is done with aim for 75 thousand seat increase over 5 years.
Apart From This, 50 thousand Atal labs will be setup to promote the practical skills among students.
