Union Home Amit Shah posted about this on his X handle and wrote that, "The middle class is always in PM Modi’s heart. Zero Income Tax till Rs 12 Lakh Income. "

On Saturday, February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget for financial year 2025-26. This budget came with various changes and announcement in various fields. Speaking on it various political leaders reacted to it.

Union Home Amit Shah posted about this on his X handle and wrote that, “The middle class is always in PM Modi’s heart. Zero Income Tax till Rs 12 Lakh Income. The proposed tax exemption will go a long way in enhancing the financial well-being of the middle class. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries on this occasion.”

Speaking to ANI, Union Minister Nityanand Rai said, “Bihar has also got priority and big projects have been announced for the state. This budget is for the welfare of poor, farmers and to help the middle class… This budget is such that it will generate employment opportunities. The announcement of the Makahna Board was special, and also for the projects that were announced for the region of Koshi River… I thank PM Modi and the union finance minister on behalf of the people of Bihar.”

Speaking to ANI, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal said, “Bihar has been taken care of in the budget. There is a discussion in the budget about starting an airport under the Udan scheme for Bihar, building a medical college and an expressway. Bihar has been taken great care of in the budget. The central government is helping in every way for the development of Bihar.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi mentioned that, “It’s a victory of the middle class; mainly because of them (BJP in Lok Sabha elections) being limited to 240 seats. In the last 10 years, the middle class had this demand – today they have been heard and hence I welcome that (no income tax on income of up to Rs 12 lakhs). Second thing, Bihar must be thinking if it can have an election every year.”

Speaking to ANI, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal stated that, “Look at the names of the states – Bihar, which is going to elections. Only Bihar, Bihar, Bihar. There was no mention of Punjab. Farmers are sitting in protest for the past 4 years over legal guarantee for MSP. What did they announce for farmers? Makhana Board. This was an anti-farmer Budget. Farmers who are fighting for their rights were not heard, this is sad.”

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami posted on his X handle that, “The upliftment of every class is being ensured, development has gained speed… The vision of a developed India will be realised, new doors of prosperity will open!”

He also wrote that, “Under the able leadership of the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Honorable Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji has presented a development-oriented and all-encompassing budget with the aim of giving unprecedented impetus to the overall development of the nation. Certainly, this budget contains many important provisions for the upliftment of all sections of the country, farmers, women, youth and the underprivileged. Through this, the resolution of self-reliant India will also get golden wings and new doors of employment will open due to encouragement to startups. In this budget, special steps have been taken to improve health, education, infrastructure sectors and to increase the income of farmers and improve their standard of living.”

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram stated, “Look at the details before we can really give an intelligent comment about the budget. Because the budget is always the devil is in the details and really can’t make up our minds one way or the other merely by hearing the finance minister’s speech. There has been a slew of new proposals but one must also see what happened to the proposals announced in the previous budget. Some grand schemes were announced in the previous budget as well. So what is the status of them? And now another slew of schemes have been announced, which will all, even in their own words, only get fulfilled well after the culmination of this parliament in 2029.”

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that, “This is the weakest budget in the last 10 years…”

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor mentioned, “I think frankly the applause you heard from the BGP benches was for the middle-class tax cut. We look at the details and that may be a good thing. So if you have a salary you may be paying less tax. But the important question is what happens if we don’t have a salary? Where is the income going to come from? For you to benefit from income tax relief, you actually need jobs. Unemployment was not mentioned by the Finance Minister… Ironic that the party that wants one nation, one election is actually using each election each state each year to give them more freebies. They may as well have multiple elections so they can get more applause from their allies.”
