- According to the tradition, Halwa ceremony has taken place, and not in between this period the budget will be printed in the basement of North Block at national capital’s Secretariat Building. However, the location of printing the budget was different. According to media reports, in 1950, the few pages of budget got leaked. This made the government to change the location of printing. During this time the Finance Minister was John Mathai. After the location of printing Budget got changed. Again in the year 1980 the printing location of Budget got changed. In 1980, North Block became the new location for printing the Budget.
- Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi were the only Prime Ministers who presented the Budget.
- Morarji Desai holds the record of presenting the budget highest number times. He presented 10 budgets. And two of them he presented on his Birthday on February 29 in 1964 and 1968.
- Indira Gandhi became the first and only only Prime Minister who presented the budget. She presented the Budget In 1970.
- The timing of presentation of Budget got changed in 1999. Until 1999, the Union Budget was presented at 5 pm. However the timing got changed from 5 pm to 11 am in 1999. This was done when Yashwant Sinha was the Finance Minister of the country.
