Unemployment allowance: In an attempt to bring cheer and confidence among the unemployed youths, Chhattisgarh Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has made a big announcement, ahead of Assembly elections this year, that unemployed youth in the state will be given a monthly allowance beginning in the next fiscal year.
It was one of the key promises made by the Congress ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections, which saw the party retake power in the state after a 15-year absence.
On Thursday, after unfurling the national flag at the Lalbag Parade grounds in Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar district, Baghel announced the formulation of a rural industry policy in the state to strengthen the cottage industry-based rural economy. Furthermore, the CM stated that factories located in industrial areas developed by the Industries Department will be exempt from paying property tax.

He stated that an aerocity will be built near the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur to improve passenger facilities, commercial development of the airport area, and job creation. Construction workers who register with the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board for three years will be given a Rs 50,000 grant to help them build their homes, he said.
Baghel also announced the formulation of a rural industry policy in the state to strengthen the cottage industry-based rural economy and increase employment and income in rural pockets. In addition, he stated that a new scheme will be introduced to encourage women groups, women entrepreneurs, and businesswomen to launch start-ups and establish industries.
Baghel stated that the state government was adamant about preserving tribal culture and festivals. From the next fiscal year, each gramme panchayat will receive Rs 10,000 in aid for organising tribal community festivals in the tribal-dominated Bastar and Surguja divisions and scheduled areas of the state.
