In a recent incident that left the world flabbergasted when everyone heard the amount of fine Google has to pay for banning YouTube ads.
A surprise fine of 2 undecillion rubles, or $2.5 decillion, to Google for not allowing ads on YouTube to appear on pro-government and state-run media accounts has brought the world’s largest ad company into Russia’s financial court. A fine of over the world’s total GDP has been calculated in the form of penalties since 2020 daily of 100,000 rubles. Tsargrad and RIA FAN were the two Russian media that won in court, leading to this amount. Weekly penalties were doubled until reaching an astronomical figure, or a number so large it is greater than all money that exists.
How Did The Fine Go Out Of Hand?
The fine was under control in the first place, but things got worse when the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022. Then, YouTube banned accounts of other Russian state-run media houses such as NTV, Russia 24, RT, and Sputnik, thus, a fresh wave of lawsuits from 17 Russian TV channels began.
See The Number Of Zeros In A Decillion And Watch Your Jaw Drop
You would be amazed at the number of zeros that would come until we reach decillion. Zero itself shows no value when used alone but it makes the number bigger if it is added after. Here are some undiscovered terms that you might find very interesting about the number of zeros after 1 here.
- Ten: 10 (1 zero)
- Hundred: 100 (2 zeros)
- Thousand: 1000 (3 zeros)
- Ten thousand 10,000 (4 zeros)
- Hundred thousand 100,000 (5 zeros)
- Million 1,000,000 (6 zeros)
- Billion 1,000,000,000 (9 zeros)
- Trillion 1,000,000,000,000 (12 zeros)
- Quadrillion 1,000,000,000,000,000 (15 zeros)
- Quintillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 (18 zeros)
- Sextillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (21 zeros)
- Septillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (24 zeros)
- Octillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (27 zeros)
- Nonillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (30 zeros)
- Decillion 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (33 zeros)
So Google has to pay a total of 2,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 as a fine. That’s far more than the money that exists on Earth, given an estimate for the World Bank figure calculating the global GDP to be somewhere around $100 trillion.
Russia has imposed a $2,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 fine on Google
In other words, $2.5 decillion or $2.5 x 10³³
