Before the announcement of tariffs, four drug lobbyists and a pharmaceutical executive told the news agency that had put pressure on the Trump administration for an assurance to keep the medical sector out of any tariffs.
According to a hospital lobbying group, American drug manufacturers procure 30% of raw materials from China. It is used in 5000 hospitals and healthcare systems. China is also a supplier of disposable face masks and plastic hand gloves.
