BharatPe Group and PhonePe Group have announced the amicable resolution of all longstanding legal disputes related to the use of the trademark suffix ‘Pe’. This settlement marks the end of numerous court battles that spanned the past five years.
As part of the agreement, both companies have initiated steps to withdraw all oppositions against each other in the trademark registry. This will facilitate the registration of their respective trademarks. Additionally, they have agreed to comply with all necessary steps under the settlement agreement for cases pending before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court.
Rajnish Kumar, Chairman of the Board at BharatPe, commented on the resolution, stating, ‘This is a positive development for the industry. I appreciate the maturity and professionalism shown by the management of both sides, working closely to resolve all outstanding legal issues and moving ahead to focus their energy and resources on building robust digital payment ecosystems.’
