China’s Electric Vehicle car manufacturer BYD has gained popularity in the segment and it is giving tough competition to the world’s richest man Elon Musk’s Tesla. BYD has recently launched a battery that offers a range of 250 miles for just five minutes of charging.

Last month, it launched the Advanced Driver Assistance System ‘God’s Eye’ which is much cheaper in comparison to Tesla’s full self-driving feature. The company is giving good competition to Tesla. BYD is taking on Tesla on all features like sales, innovation, and price. 

BYD surpassed Tesla in sales for the first time in the last quarter of 2023. In 2024, Tesla took the lead for quite some time but BYD sold 1,00,000 units more in comparison to Tesla. In 2024, BYD’s sales were $107 billion which was an increase of  29% in comparison to 2023. The company sold 4.27 million cars during the period.

BYD sells 90% of its cars in China which is the world’s largest auto market. 

A report published in The Philox said that BYD is planning to establish a manufacturing plant in Telangana’s Hyderabad. The EV manufacturing company is mulling to invest Rs 85,000 crore in the state.
