Stock Market Update: The volatility in the stock market continues. Equity benchmark Sensex fell over 130 points in early trade on Wednesday amid a bearish trend in global markets.
After opening with a positive trend, the market kept falling in the early trade. The BSE 30-share index was trading at 58,721.36, down 131.71 points or 0.22 per cent. Similarly, the NSE Nifty fell 37.45 points or 0.21 per cent to 17,487.65.
Top Gainer and Top Loser Companies
NTPC was the top laggard, down 2.42 per cent from the Sensex pack. It was followed by Wipro, Bajaj Finance, HCL Tech, Infosys and Tech Mahindra. On the other hand ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Nestle India, HUL, Reliance Industries and Maruti were among the gainers.

In the last trading session on Monday, the BSE index closed at 58,853.07 points with a gain of 465.14 points or 0.80 percent. Similarly, the NSE Nifty closed 127.60 points or 0.73 per cent higher at 17,525.10, the stock markets were closed on Tuesday due to Muharram.

In Asia, the equity markets of Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul were trading in the red in mid-trading sessions. Equity markets on Wall Street closed in the red in the overnight session. International oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.21 percent lower at $96.11 per barrel.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the Indian capital market as they bought shares worth Rs 1,449.70 crore on Monday, according to provisional exchange data.
