Starbucks New CEO Under Fire Over Decision To Commute 1000 Miles In Private Jet

Starbucks’ new CEO Brian Niccol is facing criticism after it was revealed that he will be flying 1000 miles daily from his home in Newport Beach, California to work in a private jet. Critics has questioned Starbucks’ green issues stance and the lifestyles of its top chiefs. Mr. Brian Niccol is set to take to take up the role on September 9. According to BBC Reports, Starbucks has not yet responded to its request for comment on the subject.

The announcement to make Mr. Niccol, the new CEO for September 2024 was made after the departure of Indian-American business executive Laxman Narasimhan. World’s biggest coffee shop chain Starbucks has a hybrid work policy. Mr. Niccol is also being questioned on whether he will follow the three days working rule of the office.

According to Mr. Niccol’s job offer, he would not be required to relocate to the firm’s headquarter in Seattle. The document further reads that as he agrees to commute from his family home to the office, he is eligible for using the company’s aircraft. He may also use the same for other business related travels. Starbucks also announced that they will provide Mr. Niccol with a small remote office in Newport Beach to work from California. However, they have not commented on whether their three-day work from office rule be applied to him.

As per reports, one of the company’s spokesperson said that Mr. Brian Niccol will have a packed schedule in office and will be preoccupied with responsibilities. Majority of his time will be spent visiting Seattle’s support center, stores, roasteries and other facilities worldwide.
