Share Market Today: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed today, November 20, 2024, due to voting in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. Trading will be closed today across all segments, including Equity, Equity Derivatives, and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB).
Voting for the Maharashtra Assembly elections kicked off at 7 am today and will wrap up at 6 pm, with all 288 assembly seats up for grabs, and the eagerly awaited results will be announced on November 23. Over 9.7 crore eligible voters will cast their votes to choose from 4,136 contenders vying for seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Share Market Holidays In 2024
Indian stock markets observed holidays on three November days: Diwali (Nov 1), Guru Nanak Jayanti (Nov 15), and Maharashtra Assembly Elections (Nov 20). India’s stock market will observe a holiday on December 25, 2024, for Christmas, which is the only one remaining holiday this year.
Notably, Indian stock market to remain close for 16 days in 2024 due to holidays.

Stock Market On Tuesday
The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, settled down in green on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The Sensex surged 239.37 points to settle at 77,578.38 on Tuesday. Nifty50 index also rose 64.70 points to settle at 23,518.50 points. Notably, the Sensex was up on Tuesday after a 4-day losing streak on.
In the meanwhile, foreign investors withdrew a substantial Rs 23,913 crore from Indian equities in November, as of now. These investors had pulled out Rs 94,017 crore from Indian stock market in October 2024.
The only Sensex gainers on Tuesday included Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Sunpharma, whereas Reliance Industries, SBI, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, and Maruti Suzuki were among the losers.
