Analysing the data for the week, Sensex surged 659.33 points and Nifty was up 187.7 points in a week. Moreover, foreign investors pulled out Rs 5,678 crores from the Indian equities this month, so far.

What Impacted The Share Market?

Indian stock markets had a strong start to the week on the back of global optimism and hopes of easing trade tensions. This surge came after comments and actions from the US government signalled possible tariff relief.

US customs recently announced temporary tariff exemptions on key consumer and industrial electronics, including semiconductors. On the other hand, Indian investors showed confidence in the equity markets. Moreover, foreign investors too infused the amount in the Indian equities this week.

However, Indian stock market declined last 2 days as the tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate. The tensions escalated following the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the life of at least 26 people. The incident sent shockwaves in the country, leading to the suspension of Indus water treaty, and downgrading the already stressed diplomatic ties between the countries.

Market experts however said that the foreign portfolio investor (FPI) inflows into India remain strong despite the ongoing geopolitical concerns. On the other hand, they warned that any military action between the two neighbouring countries could trigger a major sell-off in the equity markets.
