Share Market: India’s benchmark stock market indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled to settle on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The 30 Sensex firms drops 318.76 points to settle at 81,501.36 points. The Nifty50 index on NSE too ended with a drop. Nifty50 tumbled 86.05 points to settle down at 24,971.30 levels in Wednesday trade.
Among the Sensex pack, only the shares of HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries (RIL), Asian Paints, and SBI settled in green on Wednesday. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, Powergrid, JSW Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), and other stocks tumbled to settle in Wednesday trade.
Both benchmark stock market indices Sensex and Nifty opened in red on Wednesday. The 30 Sensex firms in early trade tanked 240.75 points to reach 81,579.37 levels, while, the Nifty50 tumbled to reach at 24,994.65 levels in early trade.

TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) – Settle 0.55% down at Rs 4,094.80 per share.
Tata Steel – Settle 0.26% down at Rs 155.25 per share.
Tata Motors – Settle 1.13% down at Rs 907.10 per share.
Reliance Industries (RIL) – Settle 0.75% up at Rs 2,708 per share.
JSW Steel – Settle 1.13% down at Rs 989.30 per share.
HCL Technologies – Settle 0.75% down at Rs 1,856 per share.
Tech Mahindra – Settle 0.84% down at Rs 1,661.70 per share.
Adani Ports – Settle 1.20% down at Rs 1,402.85 per share.
ITC – Settle 1.07% down at Rs 493.20 per share.
HDFC Bank – Settle 0.92% up at Rs 1,699.95 per share.
Notably, only 5 of the 30 firms of Sensex settled down positively, whereas shares of other 25 Sensex packed companies tumbled on Wednesday.
