Shantanu Naidu has secured the position of General Manager and Head of Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors, he informed in an emotional LinkedIn post. “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as General Manager, Head – Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors,” said Naidu in the post.
“I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him in the window. It comes full circle now,” read Naidu’s LinkedIn post.
32-year-old Naidu is an entrepreneur and author. He shared a picture of himself standing next to a white Nano car on LinkedIn. Naidu had a ‘close friendship’ with iconic businessman Ratan Tata. In 2018, he began working with Ratan Tata as his assistant, and their friendship soon became the talk of the town.
Who Is Shantanu Naidu?
Shantanu Naidu completed his mechanical engineering degree at Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014. He was enrolled in Cornell University and earned his MBA in 2016.
He began his professional career as an Engineering Intern in Tata Technologies in 2009, says his LinkedIn profile. Furthermore, In 2022, he became General Manger in the office of RNT at Tata Sons Limited. He also founded Goodfellows, a startup dedicated to find companions for elderly people living alone in India. Ratan Tata himself invested in the startup, and he reportedly gave up his ownership in the company.
Naidu also wrote a book, ‘I Came Upon a Lighthouse’, which offers a personal and light-hearted perspective on his and Ratan Tata’s friendship.
After Ratan Tata’s demise in October 2024, Naidu shared an emotional tribute on LinkedIn. He wrote, “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse.”
