SBI Customer Alert! Online Banking Services Down; Mobile Banking And Fund Transfers Impacted- Know When It Will Be Restored

The outage started around 8:15am in the morning today. It peaked around 11:45 with over 800 complaints. According to Downdetector.com, the majority of reports (64%) are related to mobile banking issues, followed by 33% concerning fund transfer problems and 3% related to ATM issues.

State Bank of India (SBI) services are currently experiencing downtime. This is currently impacting mobile banking, ATM Withdrawals and, and fund transfers. SBI has informed its customers that certain banking services will be temporarily unavailable today on April 1, 2025. The glitch will be for few hours and is expected to be restored before the banking time ends. The announcement was made by the bank via its post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Services are facing a downtime with users reporting issues with mobile banking, ATM withdrawals and more. According to website performance tracking platform – Downdetector, the outage started around 8:15am in the morning today. It peaked around 11:45 with over 800 complaints. According to Downdetector.com, the majority of reports (64%) are related to mobile banking issues, followed by 33% concerning fund transfer problems and 3% related to ATM issues. The State Bank of India (SBI) has issued an official statement acknowledging the service disruption. They mentioned that due to their annual closing activities, digital services will be unavailable from 1:00 PM on April 1, 2025. They advised customers to use UPI Lite and ATM channels for uninterrupted services and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

Reason For The Glitches

According to the SBI website: “Due to Annual Closing activity, the services of Internet Banking, Retail, Merchant, Yono Lite, CINB, Yono Business Web & Mobile App, YONO, UPI will not be available tentatively between 13:00 Hrs IST and 16:00 Hrs IST on 1st April 2025. During this period, services of UPI Lite and ATM will be available.”

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has informed the public that some banks may experience issues with their services due to the financial year-end closing. Specifically, some transactions may be temporarily declined or interrupted. However, NPCI clarifies that the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) system is functioning normally, and they are working with the affected banks to resolve the issues and ensure services are restored.
