E-Shram Card

In today’s world, many people are thriving for success but only a few people have got big hearts and are selflessly helping those who are in need. They work day and night to bring a change in this society and one such person who puts in his heart and soul for the betterment of society is Samrat Abhay Thorat. He is a Maharashtrian who lives in Pune and has not only attained numerous milestones all throughout his career but has also encouraged youth and has exhibited a prosperous life. Samrat’s career got a kickstart when he became the president of a social organisation called Sambhaji Brigade. Today, he is serving as a member of the law committee of PMC and apart from this, he is also the councillor from the BJP in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Samrat has always been determined to fulfil the promises he makes to people. Even when the whole world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, Samrat did not even think twice before taking a step forward and helping others in every way possible. Recently, he initiated the E-Shram Card program, which turned out to be very successful and beneficial for the unorganised sector workers. Through the program, they got all the information about various schemes and facilities and with this, they helped people in registering for e-Shram cards as well as Aadhar cards, PAN cards, caste certificates, voter ID cards, insurance schemes, etc.

The camp was hosted from April 1 to April 4 in Khdakmal Ali, near the Ganesh Temple Ground Area, near Fadgate Police station, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Shukrawar Peth, Pune. E- Shram cards is one of the several key programs launched by the central government to help the labour class. Workers from the unorganised sector who are not members of the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) or Employees State Insurance Corporation can access financial aid in any part of the country by applying for an E-shram card (ESIC).

The E-shram card was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment through which the registered candidates will be getting a Unique Identity Number (UAN) of 12 digits. The number will remain the same for the worker’s lifetime and they are not required to renew the cards. All they need to do is to update the account once a year. Just like the Aadhar card, the UAN will also provide a unique identity to the laborers. The registration process is hassle-free and all a person has to do is to register themselves through the e-shram portal or common service centre or the regional office of the state government in districts or sub-districts.

The candidate should be aged between 16 to 59 years, in order to fulfil the eligibility criteria. For registration, the applicants need to have an Adhar card and a working mobile number that is linked with their Aadhar, and a bank account. E- Shram cards come with numerous benefits like insurance, financial assistance, job opportunities, and several social security schemes. Additionally, it will also enable the workers to receive a pension after the age of 60 years.

Almost 25 crore people have already registered themselves on the e-shram portal and the government aims to register 38 crores of unorganised workers. This drive was started with a vision to give unorganised sector workers the benefits they deserve. Samrat Abhay Thorat’s selfless efforts of providing the best for people have made him an inspiration for generations.
