Rules Change: Indian Railways Update! No Sleeper Or AC Coach Travel On Waiting Tickets From March 1 – Details Inside

These changes have been made for the convenience of passengers. Once the rule is in place, the booking process is expected to become more efficient.

Indian Railways is introducing a few changes to ticketing and other procedures. People who travel by train should be aware of the changes that will take effect from March 1, 2025. Once implemented, passengers with waiting list tickets will not be allowed to travel in sleeper or AC coaches, as reported by Prabhat Khabar. These changes have been made for the convenience of passengers. Once the rule is in place, the booking process is expected to become more efficient, according to media reports.

Here are the details about the new rules:

  1. The ticket booking period has been reduced from 120 days to 60 days. As a result, issues related to the waiting list will be minimized.
  2. Waiting list tickets will be valid only for general coaches. If a passenger is found traveling in AC or sleeper coaches with a waiting list ticket, they will have to pay a fine.
  3. Booking for AC Tatkal tickets will begin at 10 AM, while booking for non-AC Tatkal tickets will begin at 11 AM.
  4. Passengers will be eligible for a refund in special cases. If a train is delayed by more than three hours or gets canceled, the ticket amount will be refunded.
  5. Indian Railways will now allocate seats using AI technology.
