On Thursday, the wealth of 17 out of the world’s top 20 richest people went down. Mark Zuckerberg lost the most money and dropped two spots to become the fifth richest person in the world. Indian billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani also saw their wealth decrease.
Global stock markets fell on Thursday, which caused this drop. Shares of Meta Platforms, Facebook’s parent company, fell by more than 11 percent. Because of this, Zuckerberg’s net worth fell by $29.2 billion (about ₹25.88 lakh crore). His total wealth is now $235 billion, bringing him down from third to fifth place among the world’s richest people. Even with this loss, his wealth has still grown by $28 billion this year.
Bloomberg’s Billionaire List
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, lost $15.3 billion on Thursday, leaving his net worth at $457 billion. Oracle founder Larry Ellison lost $19.8 billion and remains in second place with $317 billion. Jeff Bezos lost $6.6 billion, but Larry Page gained $5.31 billion, moving him to fourth place on the rich list. Page’s net worth has reached $244 billion, leaving him just behind Bezos ($246 billion).
