Reliance Jio To Discontinue ‘THIS’ 1.5GB-Per-Day Data Plan — Will It Impact You?

As of Wednesday evening, the plan was still available on PhonePe even after Jio’s decision to discontinue its entry-level plans offering 1 GB of daily data for Rs 209 (22 days) and Rs 249 (28 days).

Telecom giant Reliance Jio has discontinued one of its entry-level plans, potentially affecting users shortly. The plan, offering 1.5 GB of daily data for 84 days at Rs 799, has now been phased out. Jio subscribers must now upgrade to the Rs 889 plan, which provides 1.5 GB of daily data for 84 days. Alternatively, those seeking an entry-level plan with 1.5 GB per day can choose the Rs 239 plan, which lasts for 22 days.

Is This Plan Available Now?

As of Wednesday evening, the plan was still available on PhonePe even after Jio’s decision to discontinue its entry-level plans offering 1 GB of daily data for Rs 209 (22 days) and Rs 249 (28 days). These discontinued plans are now only available at physical retail outlets, with online recharges no longer an option. Consequently, the industry’s new base plan is priced at Rs 299.

Jio issued a statement, “The plan, offering 1.5 GB/day for 84 days, continues to be available for recharge across popular payment platforms, including PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm, in addition to our own website. Jio remains committed to providing a wide range of affordable and convenient recharge options to suit every need”.

Jio’s Cheapest 84-Day Plan- Rs 799

Jio’s Rs 799 plan comes with an 84-day validity and offers free national roaming along with unlimited calling across India. The plan provides 1.5GB of high-speed data per day and 100 free SMS daily. Subscribers also get access to Jio TV and Jio AI Cloud. In addition, Jio offers another affordable 84-day plan that includes a subscription to an OTT app.

Airtel has discontinued its budget-friendly mobile data plan that offered 1GB of data per day. The plan is no longer available on the company’s website, forcing customers who want 1GB daily data to opt for the Rs 299 plan instead. This change is expected to impact low-income users who previously relied on the cheaper option.
