Reliance Industries or RIL, the company led by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has left the business community and cryptocurrency enthusiasts in speculations since the launch of its Jio Coin. Reliance’s tech subsidiary, Jio Platforms, aims to bring Web3 technology to India, in collaboration with Polygon Labs. However, the company has still maintained a sort of silence around its newly introduced project.
Jio Coin is believed to be India’s homegrown digital currency. Despite all this, the RIL has not still revealed the coin’s specific features and uses, which sparked the curiosity among the people.
“JioCoins are blockchain-based reward tokens that users can earn by engaging with different mobile or internet-based apps as decided by Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) using their Indian-based mobile numbers,” read the FAQ section of Reliance.
