Ratan Tata Legacy: Industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata died at the age of 86. He breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday. Here is the list of major awards and recognition earned by the legendary businessman and a visionary, throughout his life.

Ratan Tata Legacy: Awards And Honours In India

  • Tata was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, 3rd highest civilian honour of the Government of India in 2000.
  • Tata was also honoured with the second highest civilian honour of India, the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
  • Ratan Tata was also honoured with several state civilian awards. One among them was Maharashtra Bhushan in 2006.
  • Tata was conferred with the Assam Baibhav award in 2021.
  • Government of Maharashtra honoured Tata with Maharashtra Udyog Ratna in 2023.
  • Apart from these Tata also received Honorary Doctor of Science from IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kharagpur.

These were among the many awards and honours he received in India.

International Awards And Honours

  • Government of Uruguay conferred Tata with the Medal of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in 2004.
  • Tata was honoured by Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2009.
  • Government of Italy honoured Tata with Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2009.
  • Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun was bestowed upon Tata in 2012 by the Government of Japan.
  • Queen Elizabeth II conferred Tata with Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) in 2014.
  • Tata recieved Commander of the Legion of Honour in 2016 by the Government of France.
  • Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia was conferred upon Tata in 2023 by King Charles III.
  • Apart from these Tata also received Oslo Business for Peace Award from Business for Peace Foundation in 2010.
  • Tata was also bestowed by Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in 2007.
  • Tata also received Honorary Doctor of Law from University of Cambridge.

These were among the many International awards and honours Tata had received throughout his life.
