Under this scheme, a movement has been initiated to install PM Surya Ghar Panels in 1 crore houses in the country. With this, they try to provide relief to the middle and poor class families in the country. Not only this, but through its existence, the scheme promotes Green energy.
Benefits Of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
Under this yojana, 300 units of electricity will be given for free to the beneficiaries.
Subsidy will be provided by the government for buying Solar panels.
Around one crore people will benefit from this scheme.

One should be a native of India
The applicants should be more than 18 years.
Priority will be given to middle and lower-class families.

How You Can Apply?
One needs to visit the official website of pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
After this, you need to click on ‘Apply For Rooftop Solar’
After this, you need to register for this. For this, you will need these details: State, Electricity Distribution Company, Electricity Mobile Number, Email, and Consumer Number.
Just after this, you need to follow the steps to register:
Sign up on the portal by following these steps:
- Choose your state,
- Select your electricity distribution company, and enter your electricity consumer number.
- Provide your mobile number and email address.
- Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Log in with your Consumer Number and Mobile Number and apply for rooftop solar as per the form.
First, obtain feasibility approval from the Discom. After receiving the approval, have the plant installed by any vendor registered with your Discom.
Once the installation is complete, submit the plant details and apply for net meter.
Once the Net Meter is installed and inspected by the Discom, a Commissioning Certificate will be generated through the portal.
After receiving the commissioning report, submit your bank account details along with a cancelled cheque via the portal. The subsidy will be credited to your bank account within 30 days.
