EWS Flats: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday will officially inaugurate 3,024 freshly built EWS flats in Kalkaji, New Delhi that were built for the purpose of rehabilitating slum inhabitants as part of the “In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation” Project. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM would present keys to qualified beneficiaries from the Bhoomiheen Camp during a ceremony at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan.

The event is scheduled at 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
“In line with the vision of the Prime Minister to provide housing for all, in-situ slum rehabilitation in 376 Jhuggi Jhopri clusters is being undertaken by Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The objective of the rehabilitation project is to provide a better and healthy living environment to the residents of the Jhuggi Jhopri clusters, with proper amenities and facilities,” read an PMO official statement.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of newly built EWS flats in the capital’s Kalkaji neighbourhood expressed their happiness upon finding that they will receive the keys to their new home today.
“I spent 40 years living here. We have been informed that we will receive the keys to our apartments today, therefore it is a happy day “Gopal Mandal, one of the project’s beneficiaries, spoke about “In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation.”

One other recipient expressed her appreciation by saying that her kids will now be able to live in a “large flat.”
“I will get to move out of this congestion. I was born here and now my children have also grown up, they will get to live in a big flat,” said another beneficiary of the ‘In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation’ project wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 3024 newly constructed EWS flats on Wednesday evening.
These EWS apartments have been finished with vitrified floor tiles, ceramic tiles, an Udaipur green marble counter in the kitchen, and other materials. They are furnished with all public facilities.
The apartments also come with a variety of public amenities, including underground water reservoirs for hygienic water supply, community parks, electric substations, sewage treatment facilities, dual water pipelines, lifts, and sewage treatment plants.
