Noel Tata, the half-brother of Ratan Naval Tata, has been chosen to succeed the late Business icon at Tata Trusts, reports said on Friday. He has reportedly been appointed as the Chairman of Tata Trusts, the holding company of the diversified Tata Group.
According to the several media reports, The board of Tata Trusts met on Friday morning and the appointment of Noel Tata was approved during the meeting. Notably, Noel will succeed Ratan Tata on this position. Ahead of the Tata Trusts meeting on Friday, Noel had emerged as the front-runner for the the position.
Who Is Noel Tata?
Noel is the son of Naval H. Tata and Simone N. Tata, and the half-brother of Late Industrialist Ratan Tata. With the latest developments, He has become the 11th chairman of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. He is also now the sixth chairman of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust. Noel was already a trustee of both of these trusts.
Noel currently happens to be the chairman of Trent, Tata International Limited, Voltas & Tata Investment Corporation. He is also the Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Titan Company Limited. He is associated with the group for 40 years now.
What Led To The Latest Developments?
The latest developments came after the death of legendary businessman Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata died at the age of 86. He breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday. The news of Tata’s demise came as a late night shocker for the country. Born on December 28, 1937, in Navsari, Gujarat, Ratan Tata became the head of the conglomerate in 1991.
Ratan Tata will be famously remembered for the launch of the Tata Nano in 2008. This was with the aim to enable car ownership to the common man. He was the chairman of Tata Truts.
