New Passport rule: A Passport is one of the important documents that is required to check the identity of a person. It is issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India to Indian citizens for travel abroad for different purposes.

It is good news that getting a passport has now become easier. Now, applicants can use Digilocker to upload the required documents that are used to apply for a new passport.

Now, applicants can use their Digilocker to upload the required documents through the official website www.passportindia.gov.in. while applying for a new passport. Therefore, it is advisable to create a DigiLocker account while applying for a passport.
Original Documents not required
In an attempt to ease the process of passport application, the Ministry of External Affairs allows the applicant to upload their documents through DigiLocker. Now, applicants are not required to carry their original documents during the application process of Passport. This will reduce the overall timing of the passport application process.
Faster Process
The ministry has appealed to the people to use DigiLocker service which expedites the process of passport application. Earlier, People had a harrowing time while applying for a passport. DigiLocker will not only make the process faster but also it will make the process smooth and efficient. Besides this, Along with this, Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) and Passport Seva Kendra have been established in various areas across the country to minimise the requirement of physical document verification.
What is DigiLocker?
It is a digital wallet service which is launched by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information. By using this service, now people are able to gather and keep their important documents with them without any hassle and fear of losing them. With this service, users can access their mark sheets, Driving licenses, vehicle registration certificates and other necessary documents.

The government has launched this virtual locker to streamline the process of application and to create a safe online store for your important documents. It is no longer required to carry original documents with you. Any kind of documents and certificates can be kept safe on DigiLocker.
