Indian Passport guideline: In order to get entry into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indians must use both their primary (first name) and secondary (surname) names on their passports. According to the new guidelines, if your name does not appear in both columns, you may face complications.
Passengers with the same name will be denied entry into the UAE, according to a new circular issued by the UAE government on November 21. That is, those whose passports have only one word of their name will be ineligible.
What did the letter to travel agencies say?
‘As per the instructions of the UAE authorities, with effect from 21 November 2022, only one stamp will be printed on the passport of passengers travelling on tourist, visit, or any other form of visa,’ said IndiGo in a previous circular addressed to travel brokers. Passengers listed will be denied entry and exit from the UAE.’

Visitors entering the UAE with residence or employment visas, on the other hand, are excluded from the rule. Passengers with the same name on their passport and a residence permit or employment visa will be able to travel if they submit the same name in the ‘First Name’ and ‘Surname’ sections, according to an Indigo Airlines statement. Put it back in, but both spots should be filled.
For more information, passengers should contact their account manager or visit the airline’s website, goindigo.com. Other airline carriers, such as Air India Express and SpiceJet, have also asked UAE travellers to ensure that their passports have both of their names.
