New GST rates: Home appliance showrooms are witnessing a surge in sales following the implementation of the new GST cuts. The reduced rates have dropped significantly, attracting customers in large numbers to grab the offers. Starting Monday, September 22, prices of hundreds of everyday items will drop as the government’s revised GST rates take effect. From kitchen essentials and medicines to electronics, cars, and bikes, shoppers can expect noticeable savings. About 375 items got cheaper in a festive bonanza to consumers as the GST Council decided to reduce tax rates on goods and services, from September 22 — the first day of Navratri. This marks the biggest overhaul since GST was introduced in 2017, reducing the previous four-tier structure of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% to just two rates, 5% and 18%.
AC Rates after GST cut
Air Conditioners have now become a staple in most households. Consumers have been complaining about the high GST on air conditioners. However, the revised tax rates have eased the burden. The GST on ACs has been reduced from 28% to 18%. To increase sales, companies are passing the savings directly to buyers. An NDTV profit report suggests that At Vijay Sales, AC prices now start from Rs 22,900, inclusive of all taxes. Discounts are available on the popular models too.
