Mukesh Ambani is celebrating his son Anant’s wedding with Radhika Merchant in grand style, considered one of India’s most expensive weddings. The wedding is taking place at Mumbai’s Jio World Center, with many prominent figures from India and abroad attending. Media reports indicate that organizers have rented over 100 private jets to transport guests to and from the venue. Guests are receiving gifts such as gold and diamond jewelry, expensive perfumes, and other valuable items. However, it’s also true that India’s wealthiest person was born in a country that is among the world’s poorest, with 99% of its population Muslim.
From Aden To Ambani Empire
Mukesh Ambani was born on April 19, 1957, in the city of Aden, Yemen, where his father Dhirubhai Ambani was working at the time. Shortly after Mukesh Ambani’s birth, his family returned to India. He was raised and educated in Mumbai, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai. Later, he pursued an MBA from Stanford University in the United States. Mukesh Ambani married Nita in 1985. They have three children – Akash, Isha, and Anant. Today, Mukesh Ambani is India’s wealthiest person and serves as the head of the country’s most valuable company, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL).

Yemen’s Poverty And Muslim Majority
According to the IMF’s 2023 figures, Yemen ranks 11th among the world’s poorest countries. Based on IMF’s 2024 estimates, there is concern that Yemen may slide to 9th place with a GDP per capita of $1,996.475. Yemen historically remains one of the poorest countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to the World Bank. It is predominantly a Muslim country, with over 99% of its population adhering to Islam.
